The Old Bell

About This Project

The Old Bell Hotel is a 17th century grade II listed building in Derby, in a very prominent position as you enter the street of Sadler Gate located within the Derby City Centre Conservation Area.

The site consists of several different buildings, the main core was built in 1680 by the Meynell family, with a four storey addition which projects out to the rear in the late early 18th century with the roof being covered with welsh slates. The building was built in bricks but the elevation on Sadler Gate and the lower rear elevations was given a mock Tudor treatment facade in the 1930’s.
